Scarf summer, which began last year when stars like Sabrina Carpenter and Beyoncé were suddenly spotted with silky scarves tied around their hair, is back for another installment in 2025, but leave it to famously stylish actor Anya Taylor-Joy to put a high-fashion spin on the look—with a surprising hairstyle to match.

Taylor-Joy was spotted at the F1 Grand Prix of Hungary in Budapest over the weekend wearing a cheerful green scarf wrapped around her signature platinum blonde hair, but instead of pairing it with retro, Italian movie star-inspired curls or long, glam waves befitting the Eurosummer of it all, she opted for something much simpler: pigtail braids! Somewhere, Kirsten Larson from the American Girl series is smiling with delight.

Taylor-Joy's pleated green scarf was perfectly wound around her hair and chin, with the two braids peeking out from either side. At first, I thought they were just tucked under the scarf, but if you check out the side view, you'll see that they're actually pulled through an opening in the fabric. (I also love that she used regular hair ties—one brown, one black—instead of wrapping hair around the tie to disguise it or cinching her style with clear bands.)

While the braids may be more Little House on the Prairie than Parisian, Taylor-Joy's Dior sunglasses and cherry red lipstick are definitely high luxury. And if you thought one scarf was enough, think again! The actor wore another scarf wrapped around her shoulders like a shawl and tied another around her bag.

Taylor-Joy's scarf-and-braids combo isn't just stylish; it's also practical. What if she got invited to ride in a race car? Her hair would stay in place even at high speed! There's a reason old movie stars like Marilyn Monroe always wrapped a scarf around their pin curls before hopping into a convertible. Plus, once Taylor-Joy takes out the braids, she can rock summery beach waves. That's what I call multitasking.
